Face to Face with Race Face

After mountain biking at Whistler, our Washington outside sales rep Nick Miller and I stopped off to see our friends at Race Face in Vancouver, BC. Race Face makes mostly mountain-focused cycling components. They are known for their high-end, CNC machined mountain cranks, chainrings, handlebars, stems and seatposts.  In their almost 18 years of doing business, they have developed a strong brand and excellent reputation.

During our visit, they were kind enough to take us on a tour of their headquarters, a former Seagrams Whiskey facility. We saw some interesting parts of their manufacturing process such as:

strength testing of bars and stems; a batch of carbon cranks about to be born in the carbon manufacturing room; multiple CNC machines working to capacity on cranks and rings; the crank assembly room where cranks receive their rings, bottom brackets, and packaging; and the laser etching machine doing its thing on chainrings.

One of our favorite parts was a walk down memory lane at their warranty wall which had cranks we haven’t seen in decades. The warranty wall brought back some fun memories of yearnings for 110/74mm, anodized, square tapered cranks.

We'll have some cool new products coming from Race Face soon. More info to come. Big thanks to Derek at Race Face for his time and support.
